I know I could go to a chicken forum for this, but I don't normally have questions.
SO, my chickens are starting their first molt and I wanna know if their feather patterns are the same after they're done molting.
Thanks chicken lovers!

My chickens usually always keep their similar feather pattern (not exactly the same but close too). So you can probably count on it being at least pretty close to the same. But 1st year (I assume your talking about that and not the several molts when they were chicks
)molts might be the molt they would change the most.
If you are really worried about their feather patterns changing and not being able to tell them apart or something, I would get some different colored leg bands, just while their molting. You could even use zip ties if you wanted. Since you have all the same breed of chicken, I might do that just in case they change a little (or a lot).
Does this answer your question?

Yep, good idea! I have a box of neon yellow leg bands that we never used so I could tell them apart. I could carve numbers into them.

Off topic, I love that your chickens are molting at a convenient and normal time.
Mine always molt at the worst time possible. There is foot of snow on the ground, its the middle of winter, and the decide, Hey! It looks like a great time to molt. -_-.

Yep, and it's great because it will cool them off! Yesterday it was 70 degrees and they had their wings spread and a few were panting. (and so was I, I hate the heat lol.) I can't imagine what summer will be like for them! At least we have a pool now. (My dad put one up last summer)
