Hey all. So the stable I ride at got a new lesson horse and she is super sweet. She is an Appendix named Hailey. She was gotten out of a bad situation (neglect and abuse). She has spur scars all over her sides and is scared of quick movements and crops/whips. She also has no top line in her back or neck. We have been working with her trying to build up her muscles. She is being completely started over as if she were a baby.
We have been having this problem with girth rubs. Her skin is SUPER sensitive. We thought it was because of the leather girth so we switched to a really soft fleece girth, but she still rubbed. We stretched her before the ride to unwrinkle the skin to prevent pinching, but she still managed to get a number of rubs. She has already been through so much and is loving her new life, it would be awesome if we could fix this to make it even better.
If you have any products that you know of, special for sensitive skin (English/dressage saddle) please let me know.

I don't know of any girths that I have used that are good for sensitive skin. I have heard that girths with lambskin are good for sensitive skin if that helps?

It's to tell but the issue could be the girth placement. A shoulder relief girth could help by staying away from the skin when it wrinkles up. There's really no way to know unless you try it. I would recommend Total Saddle Fit shoulder relief girths. You can choose fleece, leather, etc. And between an English or western style. They're good quality but there are plenty of other brands out there too.
