[Hera the Hamster]

Hi

As you all know there are countless hamsters out thier that suffer everyday because of crittertrails cotton fluff pine and cedar bedding and countless other things. Hamsters are living breathing creatures and yet I. So many places they are treated like mindless toys. Hamsters deserve better. Just one forum can't change every Hamsters life to a good one. One person can't eliminate crittertrails. But we can make a difference. Post every way to give Hamsters a better life. Slip note in wrong hamster books that say to come to this forum! Complain about horrible hamster cages online! Together we CAN made a difference. We can get rid of a certain horrible cage. We can spread awareness and save hamsters. We can do so much if we just try. So please try as hard as you can. I can't do everything alone. Hamsters are worth saving. So try as hard as you can to save them. How can/did you make a difference?

Agreed! I feel so, soooooo sorry for hamsters who suffer, and I feel so lucky that I was one of the few who researched before buying/adopting (not bragging, hust saying!). Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere online to post except HH, so I am going to try to tell people in my life.

If enough people spam a product with bad reviews and 1 star ratings the product could stop being sold. If the item has 1 star and bad reviews not many people will buy it. If the company making the product doesn't have enough money from the product to make more than it could stop being sold. Attention all hamster hideout members! Spam this cage with horrible reviews!

Something is seriously wrong with the people that made this cage... it more like the worst hamster prison to ever exist. I mean there's not even a wheel!

Oh my gosh, that's tiny! What the...? I might do that for all the bad cages on Amazon hehe

Some cages out there (like crittertrails) are way to small. However it slightly understandable that thier bought. However I don't understand what person would think that the Mushroom cage is big enough.

I think the Mushroom cage is 33 square inches. It's really sad. :(

I know this is an old topic but I just wanted to say that I agree with this statement.

I am considering writing letter to Kaytee TM about Crittertrail cages and other products that are bad for hamsters. Although it will probably be ignored it could make a small difference.

Don't forget about the poor hamsters that suffer at the pet stores and the animal mills where the pet stores get them from.

When I read this topic, I feel like putting my fist in the air and yelling" Yeah ". I 100% agree, that link that Hera the Hamster made, could a hamster even turn around in that?Although, if you took out some of the stuff, and the door, it would be acute hideout.

It could be a okay hut but that's 40$ for a hut that you could diy for free. Plus I really don't what to support the company that makes this stuff. :| :(

Hamsters don't just suffer from cages and bedding, yes i get what your saying but there is also pet stores that may not take care of them well, or actual owners that don't treat them well. I'm a hammy Mom i spoil my hammys,and i agree that all of them deserve the best of the best because they absolutely do. Unfortunately we can't save all of them but maybe we should encourage more things people that don't do well with them, on what they should do with them. I know so many people that have them and don't deserve to have them like keeping them in there cages all the time and not putting them in there balls or not paying attention to them. I think that pet stores need to be more stricter on the people who go to buy them or any other animal for that matter and see how intrested they really are and how caring and loving they are towards them. Make them take a paper survey on how well they take care of there other pets. I do agree others need to be more serious about it but lets face it, how are we going to start this? I complain to petsmart about how they don't even know the hammies birthday or genetics or any other animals, and guess what answer i get and remember this is from the store manager too, she says that they have no idea. And then do they have any idea what kind of environment there animals come from with the breeders that sell them to the stores? I know that Arizona's getting in trouble from breeders mistreating the animals and not taking care of them at all leaving them to starve in there own waste, that's why you see hamsters or any other animal sick sometimes. The petsmart in American Fork Utah gets there hamsters from California though but i don't know for sure if the breeder there is even good or not because i see sick hammies all the time there too.
