Thought I'd share some of my hamster Mousse's favorite DIY chews, toys, and treats. She loves to scavenge and hoard her food, and refuses to eat out of her bowl. So these were perfect for her and she absolutely loves them.
1. Toilet Paper Food Chew
-Mix flour and water together until it turns into a paste
-Cover the toilet paper roll in the paste
-Roll the tube in a seed mix until it's completely covered
-Let dry
2. Break-Away Ball
-Microwave raspberries in water for 1 minute
-Drain raspberry water into bowl
-Mix raspberry water with flour until dough forms
-In separate bowl, mix flour paste with seed mix
-Roll into ball
-Cover the ball with dough
-Let dry
3. Peanut Butter Stick
-Mix peanut butter, flour, and water together until thick paste forms
-Add seed mix
-Mix together and add more flour until not sticky
-Wrap the mixture around a stick
-Put in oven for 10-15 minutes on 300 degrees Fahrenheit
-Let cool
(Give to hamsters in limiteted quantities)
4. Ring Toy
-Cut toilet paper tube into 6 sections
-Put rings on string
-Tie string together
5. Hamster Pie
-Mix peanut butter, flour, and water together until dough forms
-Take aluminum foil and form it into a small round pan
-Flatten dough out and aline the pan with it
-Fill with bananas, pumpkin puree, mashed carrots, raspberries, or any other hamster-safe fruit/veggies
-Put layer of dough over the top the pie
-Put in oven for 10-15 minutes on 300 degrees Fahrenheit
-Let cool
Hope your hamster enjoys all of these! Hopefully I got the oven temperatures correct, if not don't burn your house down ![]()
