Any idea where to get children’s play sand other than Mothercare?

If you are buying for your hamsters, the best would be to buy chinchilla sand, it is what I use for my hamsters. You have to careful about the dust, and I'm not sure how much dust is in childrens play sand.

Chinchilla sand (not dust) can be found at most pet stores. Children's sand can be found at more hardware stores, and I think many people bake it before using.

You can find Children's play sand at most hardware stores (Home Depot, Rona, Lowes, etc.). Many stores have it priced very cheaply, like $15 (Canadian dollar :))

this is a Singapore specific part of the forum- they don't have many of those options there, and are looking specifically for country-specific advice. :)

They should have hardware stores in Singapore... no?  :scratchchin: You can purchase sand at most hardware stores. I don't know any Singapore

specific hardware stores but it should be easy enough to find.

It really depends. Something like a sandbox for children may be very culture dependent, it's possible that kids don't play n home sandboxes in all parts of the world. It's also possible that in other parts of the world, playsand is bought somewhere else- maybe in a toy store, or you drive directly to the sand quarry yourself. :)

Very true, I didn't think about that! :)

I get my play sand from Toys R Us. It's a 20kg packet, it has been already sanitized. When I get home I go and put all the sand on a tray and dry it in the oven. This way you don't have to wait for the sand to dry over several days and it kills any leftover bacteria. Oh if you're wondering why the sand is usually a bit wet/damp when bought, its because it hasn't been fully dried after it's wash then its packaged damp/wet.
