No. Rabbits should not be allowed to interact with hamsters. Rabbits are significantly bigger than hamsters and it wouldn't take much for them to do some serious (potentially fatal) damage to such a small animal. Even when another rabbit annoys them, their usual reaction is to nip to tell them to back off - and while that wouldn't do any damage to a fellow bun, it has the potential do some major damage to a Syrian. I don't know if you've ever been nipped (not bitten) by a rabbit, but I'll tell you from experience - even from a tiny little 2.9lb mini lop, it hurts.

Even if you have the friendliest rabbit on the planet, they should not be trusted to interact with a hamster. Syrian hamsters are also not naturally sociable species - it's rather reckless to allow them to interact with a rabbit, knowing just how damage the rabbit is capable of doing if the hamster were to get too close and nip them, or irritate them in any way. Not to mention the stress you could cause the hamster by just placing them with another animal. It's just careless and not fair to put either of your pets in that situation.

If you're talking about living in the same house, but separated - it's fine. If you're talking literally co-existing with each other with no boundaries, no - it's not safe at all.

No type of animal should ever be housed with a Syrian hamster. EVER. Syrian hamsters are completely and totally solitary creatures, and they will fight other hamsters to the death. Don't keep them together because pet stores do. Rabbits are (if you hadn't noticed) a LOT bigger than hamsters, and with teeth and claws and their sheer size advantage, it wouldn't take long for that Syrian to be killed. Please only keep Syrians by themselves. And any other type of hamster should NEVER be housed with another animal, especially not another type of animal entirely.

Definitely not. Not only to they require completely different set ups, food, toys and pretty much everything different the bun could seriously injure a hamster. I do believe buns are herbivores so they wouldn't eat them, but that doesn't stop them from killing them, especially if a hamster gets aggressive which the without a doubt would.

I do believe there are some videos or topics floating around explaining why, and from what I remember their scents can cause a lot of damage to another, their produced saliva or something of that nature. The point is, no.

I think your friend meant Guinea pigs not Syrian Hamster... There have been cases of successful coexistence between rabbits and guinea pigs but even them it is dangerous and is definitely not advisable. A kick from a rabbit can be fatal to a Guinea pig, imagine what it would do to a hamster. A hamster would not survive with a rabbit.

Rabbits and hamsters cannot live together. I've heard some cases of them living together but I have a hard time believing the animals are happy together.

There are dangers of keeping these animals together. Syrians aren't even supposed to be housed with others of its own kind never mind a completely different animal.

They would eat eachothers food, the rabbit could kick or step on the hamster or even go as far as biting eachother, they would overall just not get along

Never should they live together. But honestly in my opinion IF during playtime your rabbit hops over to see what the tiny creature is so be it. I'd trust my bunny. Never would I allow them to strait up interact and NEVER live together. Besides rabbits need A LOT of space there setups are not survivor for hamsters. I may not be very well educated in hamsters (or as much as others on this forum) but i AM very well educated on rabbits. I think it's best to just keep them separate.
