I know it seems a bit out of place on a hamster forum, but I figured I'd post here just in case.

Cuban tree frogs are invasive in North America, and it is illegal to put them back into the wild once caught. Many people catch and euthanize them, which is encouraged for the protection of native wildlife. Since I'm a bit of an amphibian freak, I managed to save 42 tiny babies that were going to be euthanized otherwise. However I can't keep them all, so they are up for adoption. These guys get around 3-4" long when adults and vary in color from greens, golds, greys, and browns. Shipping frogs overnight is considered very safe and is a practice I have experience in. I don't have any photos of these guys yet because they are so tiny, but you can Google them to see what they look like. I just want to find them good homes.

How do you take care of them? I've never heard of them before. I'm glad you saved them, 42 is my lucky number. :)

This is a general care guide- they're a pretty easy species.:)

Haha I was just looking at that care guide. They are pretty easy looking...Will you ship for free? Because the forum has like a 'free adoptions only' thing, so... :) I've heard a 10 gallon tank is good, so do I turn it on its side, or leave it as is? Do you know of a cheap, on the smaller side, nice quality terrarium for Cuban tree frogs? I'm having trouble finding one in my price range.

You should probably add your location, so people know whether or not you're nearby. :)

It doesn't really matter, if they aren't picking them up, but yes, that would be helpful. I think she lives in CA, since her location says 'Golden State', which is CA's state nickname.

A 10 gallon will do while they're young, but they should probably have around 20 gallons or so for 2-3 adult frogs. Exo Terra vivs are very popular, and I know Petco is having their dollar per gallon sale now so you can get a 20 or 29. Craigslist also usually has great deals on terrariums because people sell their aquariums for cheap if they crack.

The forum has no specific rule on this, rather you are not allowed to sell animals- however, offering a small rehoming fee is actually a very good and responsible practice- it prevents pets from going to homes that want them for nefarious purposes or lack the funds for proper care. It is generally recommended by animal experts to ask a small fee to ensure the pet goes to a good home, the sale subforums were created and most active 15 years ago- a time when the need for a fee to ensure safe homing was less well publicized. What wouldn't be allowed is a member intentionally profiting off the exchange of rehomed animals.

It is also ENTIRELY reasonable for the OP to ask to be reimbursed for shipping costs. In that case, you're paying for the shipping and materials- not the pet.

Yeah, I was about to say "why on earth should OP ship them for free???" It was just so unreasonable to me xD. Shipping can get pricey. Of course it's common sense for OP to want to get reimbursed.

Well, they could just want to get them to new homes, quick. Since there are so many, that may be the case.
