Welcome to the daily news articles I will usually release every Monday, but since I can't wait until next Monday I decided to do it! I figured I would just be nice and put a whole bunch of things related to hamsters and make it like a "newspaper". So I hope you enjoy my very first article ![]()
Woah, what the heck?:
So apparently hamsters in the wild all over northeastern France are eating their babies alive due to a shortage of corn? What? Is corn a necessity? According to a research, they are missing vitamins like B3 or niacin. The deficiency of B3 has indeed been linked to a disease called "Black Tongue Syndrome" as where the hamster has swollen legs and a black tongue.
The crittertrail controversy:
We all KNOW crittertrails are well under the limit of cage space. So why exactly do people still use them? I am guilty myself of using them, BUT they are all connected to HUGE fish tanks for both of my Syrians. I swapped the tubes out for OVO tubes. So back to the whole thing, why do people still use them?
1. Uneducated or first time hamster owners see these cages as "fun" or "decorative" but they really never think about how their hamster could live in these kind of conditions.
2. Children see it as a play toy and the bright colors and tubes attract young ones to wanting it for their hamsters
3. Some people just don't care and think it's bologna to have a bigger cage (sadly)
Though, if crittertrails were the correct size, would you be buying them?

On a lighter note:
What are some cute tricks that you have taught your hammy? Here's a list of the basics I have taught my 5 months old hamster
1.Stand on your hind legs
2. Give me high five!
3. Give me kiss
4. Climb to my shoulder
5. Zig-zag (she goes through these little cones in a zig zag motion)
Even though training your little ones require a whole lotta time and patience, would you train your hamster? Or if you have some known tricks please do share ![]()

Lasttt but certainly not least :
The toy of the week!
The hamster swing!!
There are way too many version of the swing, therefore I will not post a picture. But it's adorable ![]()
There are chains attached to each side and you clip it to the top of your cage. So yay or nay?
