I think you absolutely made the right choice. Even if that hammie was sick, it may have just been a normal attribute, you still gave Neville a great home. It is most likely that some one else will pick up that hamster. I know it is hard but it isn't your job to save every hamster.

Its not bad to get a hamster from a petstore. If you are happy that you got your hamster then don't worry about the other one. Someone will eventually pick it.

You defiantly made the right choice. The one with bulgy eyes may have a thing (I don't know what the name of it is) where they have abnormally big eyes and an abnormally short muzzle. This is something linked to their genetics. It causes all the same problems as a pug would have with breathing. They don't breath very well because of their smushed face.
He may just be from a litter of hamsters with that problem. If I listen to him closely he does make weird nose noises. Or he just does that when he's nervous because I'm picking him up.

He is most likely making noises because he's scared and wants to be placed back on the ground. Remember, you should give your hamster at least 4-5 days to settle in before handling them in any way.

Maybe he wanted to be that guinea pig off the movie bolt. The guinea pig had big eyes and his name was bugsy. I wouldn't feel bad because there will be a person that will love that big eyed hamster with all their heart!

I wouldn't worry too much about the one you left behind. Someone, such as myself, will pick up that little guy in a heartbeat. Oddities and all.

There's absolutely nothing wrong about getting a hamster from a pet shop. Even if you have shelters or breeders in your area, there's nothing wrong of getting a hamster from the pet shop.
Winter White hamsters (normally hybrids at pet shops) do actually have large eyes compared to their Campbell relatives. However, they are prone to a disease that makes them have abnormally large and swelling eyes, like Hammy Haven said.
And it's all up to you. I don't think there's really any bad choice or good choice to it, unless you have requirements on what kind of hamster you want. So you made a good choice!

The one from Bolt was a hamster (IDK the name, I think it had something to do with meat) and Bugsy was a Guinea pig from the Disney movie Bedtime Stories.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with buying one from a pet store. They need a loving home too!
