Accepted! Hey, I would love to volunteer at rescues once I get a little bit more experienced! :)

I love horses!

Forum name: Animal Obsessed

Favorite horse breed (or pony): Friesian

Favorite Color: Black or Gray

How long have you been riding: on and off for 5 years (the first two years were just camps)

Discipline: English

Do you own any horses: No, I wish!

Extra information that's not on the form: I work at a local barn every week!

Accepted! That's cool how you work at your local barn! I need to do something like that soon, lol.

The following answers are answered bellow:

Bubbles backyard
Quarter horse and paint
Palomino
I'm guessing but maybe 5 years
Western
I have a palomino pony
Her name is Tulip and is the sweetest pony I have ever met. I hope when I grow out of her she can learn to pull a cart;)

Accepted! Aww, Tulip sounds adorable! Have any pictures? :D

I really love hotbloods, as I find their "difficulty" quite passionate, if you will.  I find that they have the biggest personalities, and once they trust you (which takes a long time), are the most loyal.  However, I am partial to Quarter Horses and Paints as well for their stability, as those are the breeds I started on.

Hmm, I really need to start checking out all the different horse breeds! I can't wait to see what breed of horse I'll get for lessons.

Most riding schools will start you off with a reliable breed; Quarter Horses definitely dominate this field.

Awesome! :) Quarter horses are the ones that are the fastest breed of horse and were bred for racing?

Originally, yes, they were bred for quarter milers, which is how they got their name.  However, today's flat racing industry is almost 100% Thoroughbreds, which are superior in any distance over a quarter mile.  Today, Quarter Horses dominate and are mainly shown in Western riding classes, including reining, barrel racing, polebending, etc, but are great horses all around.  You will most likely be started on an older lesson horse (15+) that is completely quiet and sound.  I began riding on a chestnut QH named Rex, and he is really what made me fall in love with riding.

I guess I got good news! The place I'm looking at offers trail riding lessons I believe. I think I'm going to learn the basics of riding first, then I'll switch to those lessons. :)

Hey, I kinda got bad ish news! Well, in my area there are very few places that actually do western lessons! The place I've been talking about isn't too good, so I may have to pick somewhere else. I may have to do hunter / jumper, though I would be fine with that since jumping is pretty cool. :D

Forum Name : Harveyham

Favorite Horse Breed (or pony) : Pony of the Americas (POA), Friesians, and Fjords

Favorite Color : Dun

How long have you been riding? : 8 years I think?

Discipline : Western (but usually I just hop on bareback, or ride in a bareback pad)

Do you own any horses? : Yes. I have a 20ish year old POA named Ginger, and an 11ish year old Fjord/Quarter Horse named Taffy

Extra Information that's not on the form : Taffy was supposed to be shared by my mom and brother, but bolted and bucked a few times. This caused my brother to lose basically all his love of horses. Also, my mom is kind of a beginner so, I have been working with Taffy and hope to do a lot with her starting this spring. I have been working on my bond with her lately and I'm pretty sure she will be amazingly fun this summer. I did some liberty stuff last year and am really excited for spring and summer, so I can do more!
