Hey all, I hope this is the correct place to ask but what are your opinions of Trustie/Burp brands? (If I cannot post such topics, please let me know! I'm sorry since I'm a new member. >_<)

I think they are the house-brands of PLC. For Burp, their food contains a lot of sunflower seeds and corn, so I took my hammie off that, and switched to Vitakraft Emotion Beauty. The PLC staff near my place have attempted many times to get me to buy Burp, but I don't want my dwarf to get diabetes, which is what I told them. Anyways, last night, one of them admitted years ago, she fed her first hammie too many sunflower seeds and somehow that caused wet tail. Kinda ironic since I'm trying to avoid too much unhealthy food for my hammie.

Anyways, now the staff are trying to get me to buy their new/rebranded/revamped Trustie hamster bathing sand. (It's in a nicer looking packing, not the plain one in a bag type) I've not seen many reviews (new products perhaps?) and then on PLC website, the new bathing sand were all given 5 stars, all by 2 votes last I checked. I'm not sure if this feels a bit dodgy maybe someone of their own is upvoting their products, or there's a true customer who tried ALL the bathing sands scents and really liked all of them.

So any thoughts?

P.S. My hamster is currently on Vitakraft Emotion Beauty + Vikakraft Life. She seems to enjoy them thoroughly.

Diabetes is caused by being overweight and eating too much carbs. Sugar does not cause diabetes.

Burp! is just never a good brand because they lacks varieties, low in nutritional values, etc.

Their Trustie sand are too fine for hamsters, and most of them are scented which is bad for the hamsters.

They promote them only because it's their house brand but I won't use them over anything.

Vitakraft Emotion Beauty and Vitakraft Life are too low in Protein. Hamsters need at least 19% Protein level in their food.

So what do you suggest for protein? I don't mind feeding her shrimp/mealworms ...

Also just wondering, what sand bath do you use for your hamster?

Edit: Ah I saw the other thread on feeding hamsters, I guess I prefer giving her mealworms than boiling an egg XD.

I use Supreme Science Charlie Chinchilla sand. Vitakraft Chinchilla Sand and Versele Laga Chinchilla Sand works fine too-- They're all pretty coarse.
