Now that I have a ton of free time on my hands, I'm writing a story.

There's a lack of description of time, place and setting, also you should watch out for the exclamation points. It looks very unprofessional when you use more than one. ^^ Take a good look at books written by well-known authors and learn from there. That's what I did. It's a good start though!
