This is not just any ovo-age hamster home
Featured Hamster Home February 20th, 2008

For the second issue of “Featured Hamster Home” (a segment where we feature interesting and practical hamster homes), I am proud to present wezeles‘ Ovo Paradise.

I admit that when I first saw the OVO on sale, I didn’t think it will provide adequate space or ventilation for hamsters. Of course, I was thinking cheap at that time, as I didn’t think of spending a tonne on buying lots of OVOs to connect (which I think, is the only way the OVO can be live-able as a main set up for hamsters). Well, wezeles has gone there and done it! And the end result is pretty awesome! Definitely worth considering for your dwarfs if you have the space and cash to spare =D
I couldn’t agree more with wezeles when he says that “… the OVO is better suited for small mice and dwarves than Syrians. It really imitates their natural home, though, with all the “underground” tunnels and dens….not to mention it just LOOKS so cool!”
“It would be way too cramped and ventilation would quickly become a problem for a larger animal (such as Syrian/European/rat-like hamsters). If your hamster is 5 inches or less they will love the burrow style home the OVO offers, anything larger than 5 inches will feel like an adult crammed in a McDonald’s play place.”
Main parts that make up wezeles’ hamster home:
- 1 Habitrail OVO Suite “OVO pad plus an OVO Adventure Pack in one box”
- 2 Habitrail OVO Mazes
- 2 Habitrail OVO Adventure Packs
- 1 Habitrial OVO Tower
- 3 mini Silent Spinners
- 1 Puzzle Playground
- 1 hamster potty
Estimated total cost:
US$165

40-Gallon Palace for 1 Lucky Hamster
Featured Hamster Home February 1st, 2008

This is the first issue where we feature astonishingly creative and practical hamster homes.
The very first featured hamster home is HoppingHammy’s set up that is made up of TWO 20 gallons aquariums.
I think the photos speak for themselves. Creampuff (HoppingHammy’s hamster) is definitely living a high life in this splendid, luxurious set up. Please don’t let my own hamsters see these photos, or they’ll squeak protest!
